So Thursday, I got to sleep in of course. I love Thursdays, they’re always good days. Even so, I didn’t slept past 10:30ish, and I got up around 11. Rachel’s parents were here, and I felt a little intrusive, so I went to the gym quickly, which I was going to do anyway. I biked 10 miles I believe. It was nice. I hate getting myself, but I love when I’m done. Uhm… I finished reading art history and I don’t really remember what else I did. Probably hung out with Michele a bit before class.
Silk screening was AWESOME of course! I finished my first design and it looks SO COOL and everyone thought so and my teacher really liked it! It’s really the most awesome thing ever, I can’t wait to show you! He didn’t assign a new project to the whole class because some people have to come back in and finish during the week, but he wants me to come up with a new design and set of plates for next week AHH I have to think of something! But I’m so excited!
After class, I went to watch a screening of Children on Men with Michele, which I’d heard was really good. It ended up not really. It was hard to follow sometimes, like there were good ideas trying to be portrayed but they didn’t quite get their point across. And the ending was rather flat and abrupt. I dunno. It was disappointing. But I love how many movies I’m seeing, I love movies. And I love books. I can’t wait to go to a book store and just sit there, reading, sometime soon.
And then yesterday I had digital and we learned about burning and dodging on the computer. Then I was supposed to have art history, but my teacher was out sick, which made me sad because I like him! I don’t want him to be sick! But it gave me the opportunity to take some pictures for my elements project. I did Water and Ether. Then we ran some errands. I deposited my check, got some bagels, got an iron (because you need to iron the cloth once your done with printing on it in silk screening) and a few other things.
At around 4, me and Susanna headed out to the city to take some pictures. First, we stopped at the market that’s always in Union Square on Fridays, and got some zucchini bread YUM. I’m already excited to get some more next time we go, it was sugar free but you would never have known! We found a few of the coolest stores I’ve ever been in! One was this bead store with all of these beautiful silk scarves, which I think I’ll have to get one but they were a little expensive ($30-40, but they are silk) and we took some pictures. And then we went to this store called Anthropologie, which was expensive too, but had so many cute clothes! I wish I could afford them. But we also went to H&M and I got some blue-turquoise suede gloves! They are warm and comfy and I am excited to wear them in the winter! Then, it started pouring randomly, and we got smoothies and decided we weren’t going to get out film developed after all, and headed back towards the subway. But we passed by this gourmet store we always pass, and decided to go in because we were going to go to Trader Joes until it started raining. They had the tastiest looking food ever! Luckily, I’d already gone food shopping on Wednesday, so I wasn’t tempted to buy the whole store. But I got some olives and sun dried tomatoes from their awesome olive bar which I’m going to cook up with some egg noodles I have, some dried mangos, my favorite! Some fresh Pumpkin Ravioli, which is now in my freezer waiting to be cooked and devoured, some gouda (sp?) cheese, yum! Some sugar-free cookies, which also are so good you don’t even miss the sugar, some WHOLE WHEAT challah bread (I know, right?! How cool is that?!) simply because Michele is going to FLIP when she sees it, and a little tin of tiny chocolates (and I mean TINY) from England, because I wanted the tin as a pill box. It’s so pretty! It’s blue with flowers on it, and I’ve been wanting a pill box for a long time, ever since I got that one for Grama from Toledo. I didn’t know what was in the tin, but I was pleasantly surprised! Then we came home. I had so much fun, it was awesome! And we have plans to get sushi one time (I have been craving it since I got here, and I really hope I get to go get some soon…), go to the Strand bookstore another time (I can’t wait for that one!), and got o Trader Joes another. I like Susanna, I have fun with her. I hope we become really good friends simply because we go to the city every week to develop film! Hehe. I wanna go back to that store, though. Actually, all three stores we visited! Good stuff :) They had fresh gnocchi, they had all sorts of deserts and meat (I would NEVER by meat from associated, the store near me. That store is gross. I only buy packaged stuff and fruit) and cheese and oh man, so much good stuff! It was so much fun! And Anthropology was AWESOME I really want to take Molly there next time she comes here. I wonder if we have them on the east coast…
So then, I came back and I watched Pan’s Labyrinth with Tudor, his brother, and this girl Tess. It was fun we had a good time just joking around, I really liked the movie. It was made in Spain, so it had that blending of fairytale and reality like they often do, like it Like Water for Chocolate. It was very well done, and really good. I went to sleep eventually, and then got up this morning and went to my crowed yoga class (I still like Wednesday better) and then I ate oatmeal because I ran out of milk, and now I’m here writing this. Michele is off at Shul, she might be back around 3, but who really knows? I have no way of contacting her because it’s Shabbat. But we’re going to take the last two pictures for my Elements project today, and she’s going to hopefully help me with my essay for world civ. I have to develop a roll of black and white film, which I was going to do today, but tomorrow makes more sense because I’d rather get the digital pictures taken and my essay done today. I don’t have to print any color pictures this week, I just have to read a hand out. And in class we’re going to look at slides and have a half work day, so I can print some then. And I don’t have to read and art history because I accidentally read this weeks reading last week. World civ. is a never-ending battle, I think I’m going to switch teachers next semester if I can find a better one that fits into my schedule. I also have to think of a book to read for my book review by this Monday. HELP! 3-D still has no homework. For digital I have to have my 5 elements pretty and printed. And of course, for silk screening I have to come up with a new design yay!
I have so much good food in my kitchen right now, I’m so excited! But I want to not go shopping for at least a while so I can try to get through some of it because otherwise before I know it I’ll be coming home for winter break and I’ll still have all this food that needs to be eaten! I know I’m talking way in advance here, but still. I’m going to weigh myself tomorrow, so we’ll see how I’ve done in the 5 weeks I’ve been here. I’ve taken to no going to the gym on Fridays because I go into the city to take pictures, and I hope the walking I do makes up for it. But the past 2 or 3 days I’ve been eating a little too much again, so I need to control that. Maybe seeing what I’ve lost will motivate me, maybe not. Maybe it’s just another pendulum swing, and it’ll swing back in a day or 2. I’m not too worried about it, I’m still eating really healthy, exercising, taking my vitamins, and all that jazz, and I feel great. Yesterday, I wore my blue polka-dotted dress. This is significant because when I first got here 5 weeks ago, I was going to wear it but it didn’t fit. And I may have already told you I switched to wearing my old, size smaller jeans about 2 weeks ago. Yay :) I don’t want to get my hopes up, but I’m excited to see what I’ve lost.
Well, anyway… I think that’s about it for now. Just waiting for Michele to get back to take those last two pictures and do my essay. I think I’ll read a bit. I got a lovely Degas postcard from Jessica (look him up if you don’t know who he is) which is yay. I can’t wait to see all of my friends again when I come home! This year is going so great, I love it. Oh yeah, Rachel left about an hour ago for good. It’s too bad, but it wasn’t working for her here. Their room is freakishly clean considering they are both MESSY (we didn’t pass the health inspections, it was hilarious hehe) but then Rachel’s stuff is all gone and Apencer had to clean his stuff up so we’d pass, so it’s weirdly clean! And I also can’t wait until Naomi comes to visit me like we’re planning in February when she has a couple of weeks off and the rest of us don’t. But anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful day! (And can anyone help me to find a book?!) *love*
