So, color today was fine, we had a lab day. But apparently I didn’t quite have that color stuff down yet, which makes sense considering how little I’ve done. But my teacher helped me with a new print I did today, and oh man she knew exactly what to do and I would have had no idea, but all of a sudden the colors looked so good! It was crazy. So our homework this week is to print 3 final prints from our first pictures, the ones we’ve already been working on, and then take a roll of film and print 3 final prints from that. The assignment for the roll is to concentrate on a color, mine is cyan. Cyan lighting, cyan objects, whatever cyan. It should be neat to see because we all have a different color! So it’s looking like I’ll have a weekly trip to Manhattan to get my film developed. Oh, and new rant about color (not the darkroom situation anymore) but the fact that we use so much paper! I think I already wrote about that, so I wont repeat myself, but basically, I’m already out, and that stuff is not cheep. So on this next trip to get my film developed, I have to pick up more paper, which I should have done last Friday but decided against unfortunately. Oh well, walking exercise.
So I forgot to tell you about printing yesterday. It went fine, I was done in about 3 and a half hours, I had nothing to worry about, I worried too much. And the darkrooms are open until midnight. Oops. Oh well. I made my contact sheets and 3 prints, which still need some color corrections and time correction, but I think I’ll just do those three from the critique next week, unless I find another that I think I should bother starting from scratch with. Yeah. So it went fine, I got the hang of it pretty quickly, those I still have plenty of getting used to it to do to get those colors right.
Then I had world civ. which was sleepy, but I managed to stay awake and take notes okay. Nothing special to talk about there. Michele has a quiz for her class, but I don’t for mine, we’re just going to get an essay, which I’m confused about because it’s the same class and I don’t know why he’d do different things. But whatever. She had me go over the notes with her for her confusing-as-to-why quiz.
After class, I went with Adrianne to get fabrics and t-shirts for silk screening at a dollar store (awesome!), some groceries, and wood for 3-D, so I am SET with all of that. I still need to come up with my 3-D project idea, which is to create a hanging wood piece that will display the projects we’ve done so far. I guess I’ll have to do that tomorrow (don’t have much choice considering I have the class Wednesday, do I?) Yup. I didn’t print anything new for black and white, which means I’ll have another not-so-hot critique tomorrow, but I don’t really care, that’s fine. I did a lot of printing last week so I didn’t have to do any this week. I might print tomorrow night after I get the 3-D stuff done. Probably will.
Michele’s dinner party was YUM! But I’d already eaten (due to lack of self-control) so I barley had anything. But she gave me some leftovers, meatballs and chicken. The meatballs are some of the best meatballs ever! I love meatballs in general, but these were sweet or something, really good! It was fun to just chill for a bit. Met a nice girl names Sara who Michele knew from being on orientation staff, she was fun.
Anyway, that was a bit of a boring post. Not much new since yesterday, I guess. So, as I said, I’m sleepy. I hope this week is good for me and for you :)
Oh yeah, and I forgot to day, I got a package from Grama today! Apples GALORE and my favorite trail mix and popcorn and dried cranberries awesome-looking pasta I think it was. THANK YOU SO MUCH I really appreciate it and I’m really excited! I already had apples, so I can eat an apple a day for THREE WEEKS before I have to go get more, which to me, is perfectly excellent :D
