Dynamics
As I said, my teachers are all old white men besides my female film teacher. Whoopie.
The kids here are also mostly white and mostly from the suburbs. The next most people are Koreans, and there are few Asians other than Koreans, actually. Everyone’s the weird kid from their old school here, so it’s really easy to be yourself. But here we are smack in the middle of Brooklyn, a part where it’s mostly Black. It’s a bit strange, and it sorta reminds me of Oakland, but it’s not the same at all. And I wouldn’t wanna walk around at night by myself. I’ve only been off campus 5 times, as I said before. I went to the MOMA, and I went to the Bronx Botanical Garden, and I went to the Brooklyn Museum, which I forgot to mention when I was talking about art history, and I went out with mom yesterday, and I went to grand central station. That’s it! The rest of the time I’ve been cooped up here. The Brooklyn Museum has a whole bunch of neat pieces from Egyptian tombs, so we had to go there to write about them for art history. Me and this girl Courtney, who had photography and Art History with me, walked there about 40 minute walk and got super good butternut squash soup for lunch, and overall, the museum was interesting and I’d want to go back later, once I know more history so I’ll understand the objects better.
The food here is okay, it’s just that it’s always the same. They have good salads, but how hard is it to make a salad? And they’re expensive! And they have a pie shop, a.k.a. pizza pie, which is really good it had pizza and pasta and all sorts of yummy but not good for you foods. I got there every once in a while. And they have smoothies, which I’ll probably have for dinner because my favorite kind is this mango one which has no fat and is only 90 calories but it’s whole 16 oz and it has three of my favorite things, mangos, passion fruit juice, and peaches! Oh my goodness, it’s delicious and it gets me my fruit! Speaking of which, I’ve been trying really hard to not over eat and eat healthy and all that jazz, and I caved in this past weekend because I was in my room doing non stop homework Saturday and Grama sent me a bunch of cookies =D and Sunday as you know, me and mom went out. But I don’t mind because you need splurge days every once in a while. I try to get to the gym too, which I really don’t have time to do, but today I could have gone, I just by-passed it to write all this! Mostly, I buy food to eat in my room. My meal plan is small anyways, so I couldn’t survive off it, I’d run out of points. So I get cereal and oatmeal and apples and luna bars and fudge sickles and make tea and waffles and bagels and I’m a happy camper. But soon I’m gunna get really sick of the same old stuff. I do have moose munch and cookies and pistachios because Grama sent em to me hehe, but otherwise I kinda want pasta and chili and goodness like that. I should get a sandwich from the cafeteria. I kinda want one… anyways, so I wanna get pasta and chili, but both are hard to make because one, I don’t have a can opener, and two, I don’t have a pot to make anything in. Caitlyn and I were thinking that we should invest in one pot and one saucepan so we could make pasta and stuff like that. I miss my pasta and warm-type foods!
So yep. That’s about all I can think of for now. I hope you enjoyed it all! I’ll probably write again tonight about anything new. And I hope you have a better understanding about what’s going on with me here in college!
